Schwarzburg-Sond 1846 halb groschen rev DSLR.jpg

Schwarzburg-Sondershausen is one of the miscellaneous Saxon duchies in what is now Thuringia. When this coin was issued, it was ruled by duke Gunther Friedrich Carl II (1835-80). This type was issued 1846, 1851 and 1858 and all dates are listed fairly cheaply. However, demand for the minor coinage of the German states is low so the catalog price may not reflect the coin's true rarity. The duchy was absorbed into Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt in 1909.

Recorded mintage: 657,000.

Specification: 1.09 g, .222 silver, .0077 troy oz ASW.

Catalog reference: KM 144 (formerly KM C20).
