This specimen was lot 1587 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2022), where it sold for $3,240. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN. 2 Riksdaler, ND (1587). Stockholm Mint. Johan III. PCGS EF-40. A VERY RARE issue, this broad, silver striking presents a charming tone with even wear across the higher points, while some hints of brilliance remain in the protected areas at the peripheries. A minor planchet flaw is noted below the bust of the king, but blends in rather well with the overall wholesome and original nature." Davenport notes that 6¾, triple and quadruple riksdalers were also issued on this occasion.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver.
Catalog reference: Dav-LS572.
