The first specimen was lot 1008 in Jean Elsen sale 107 (Brussels, December 2010) where it sold for 90 euro. The catalog description[1] noted,

"GUATEMALA, République (1839- ), AV 1 peso, 1859, Très Beau" (Guatemala, gold peso of 1859, Very Fine.)

This type is recorded for 1859-60 only. Subsequent issues of this denomination were silver.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 1.69 g, 0.875 fine gold.
