Sincona sale 73, lot 4285

This specimen was lot 4285 in Sincona sale 73 (Zurich, November 2021), where it sold for 200 CHF (about US$257 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SWITZERLAND | Lucerne | Stadt und Kanton. Halbbatzen 1742, Luzern. Stempelschneider Jonas Thiébaud. Seine Initiale T auf der Vorderseite unterhalb des Wappens. Selten. Sehr schön. Flaue Prägung wie üblich. (Switzerland, canton of Luzern, half batzen of 1742, Luzern mint. Rare, Very fine, Weakly struck as usual.)"

This type was also struck in 1743. It was accompanied by a schilling (KM 67).
