Sweden Alb27-1603r.jpg

This specimen was lot 1603 in Stephen Album sale 27 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2017), where it sold for $188. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN: Karl XI, 1660-1697, AR 2 mark, Stockholm, 1694. Unusually choice for the type, lightly conserved, NGC graded AU55." Early two mark (KM 23) were 9.87 g, .821 fine; later types of 1638-48 were heavier but lower in fineness, containing about the same amount of silver. The subsequent issues of the 1660's were 10.40 g, .694 fine silver. This type of 1677-97 is fairly reasonable in circulated condition.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 10.40 g, .694 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM-282.1.
