Brazil 1928 500 reis rev DSLR.jpg

Shown is a aluminum bronze 500 réis of the United States of Brazil. This is the regular issue, struck 1924-30. It is scarce in choice condition. Commemorative 500 réis were issued in the 1930's which, not surprisingly, are much easier to find in nice condition than this type. The 500 réis gradually shrank until its abolition in 1942 with the reform of the coinage in that year.

Recorded mintage: 9,432,000 (common date).

Specification: 3.95 g, aluminum bronze, 22.7 mm diameter, reeded edge.

Catalog reference: KM 524.
