This silver eighteen piastres was struck during the reign of George VI, king of Great Britain 1936-52. Tho denominated in piastres, it is the same size and weight as a British florin of two shillings. Unlike British florins of the thirties, which were only 0.500 fine, this type is sterling. This specimen was lot 1411 in Stack's Coin Galleries sale (Irvine, July 2011).
Recorded mintage: 100,000 plus a few proofs.
Specification: 11.31 g, 0.925 fine silver, .336 troy oz ASW, designed by G. Krueger-Gray.
