This specimen was lot 23233 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $1,880. The catalog description[1] noted, "Maria I gold 6400 Reis 1793R, MS63 NGC, sharply struck with full mint brilliance, very scarce in this superior quality." The type was struck in Brazil 1789-1805.

Recorded mintage: 237,000.

Specification: 14.34 g, 0.917 fine gold, .423 troy oz AGW.
