1908 Ten Centavos PROOF

This type was struck for the Philippines at Philadelphia 1903-06. The 1908 is known only in proof; the common dates are 1903 and 1904-S. In 1907, the size was reduced to 2 grams and issued at Philadelphia and San Francisco 1907-19. The Manila mint struck reduced size ten centavos in 1920-21 (without mintmark), 1929 and 1935. In 1937, with the inauguration of the Commonwealth, the reverse was redesigned. This third type (KM 181) was struck at Manila 1937-41 and at Denver in 1944-45. All were demonetized by the Philippine government in the late 1960's when the currency was reformed.

Recorded Mintage: 500 Proofs.

Specifications: 2.00 g, 0.750 fine silver, reeded edge.

Catalog Reference: KM 169.
