This type, issued 1979-83 from Lima, reflects the accelerating pace of inflation which devastated Peru in the late 1970's and 1980's. In 1985, the inti (= 1000 soles) supplanted the sol but was unable to stem the inflation.

Recorded mintage: 18,471,000.

Specification: 9 g, aluminum bronze.
