This specimen was lot 34209 in Heritage sale 3106 (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $4,080. The catalog description[1] noted, "Russia: Alexander II gold 5 Roubles 1875 CПБ-HI MS61 NGC, St. Petersburg mint. A less frequently encountered year of this sought-after type. Contact marks on the reverse are evident on this otherwise lovely example." This type is listed for 1859-85 and is fairly common in circulated condition. In 1886, the standard was revised to match the French twenty francs d'or, resulting in a weight reduction to .186 troy oz.

Recorded mintage: 4,000,000.

Specification: 6.54 g, 0.917 fine gold, .193 troy oz AGW.

Catalog reference: Fr-163, KM-YB26, Bit-23.
