This specimen was lot 35527 in Heritage sale 3038 (Dallas, January 2015), where it sold for $1,880. The catalog description[1] noted, "Reza Pahlavi Shah gold 1/2 Pahlavi SH1321 (1942) MS63 NGC. An attractive example of this key date in the series with matte, golden surfaces and excellent detail for the issue. Very lightly handled and with features commensurate with the grade." This type, struck SH 1320-1324 during the reign of Muhammed Reza Shah (r. 1941-79), was minted to the standard of a British half sovereign. The coins generally trade as bullion coins tho this date is rare.
