Sincona sale 11, lot 2430

This specimen was lot 2430 in Sincona sale 11 (Zurich, May 2013), where it sold for 28,000 CHF (about US$34,665 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RDR/ÖSTERREICH Olmütz, Bistum Karl II. von Liechtenstein-Castelcorno, 1664-1695. 5 Dukaten 1678, Kremsier. CAROL,D:G-EPVS-OLOMVCENSIS-DVX -S-R-I-PRINCEPS Büste im geistlichen Gewand mit breitem Kragen nach rechts. Rv. REG-CAPELLAE-BOHE-ET - DE-LIECHTENSTAIN-CO: 16 78 Vierfeldiges Stiftswappen mit Familienwappen als Mittelschild. Oben Krummstab, Inful, Fürstenhut und Schwert. Unten Zinken. Dicker Schröt­ling. Vorzüglich. Ex Auktion UBS 66, September 2006, Lot 1523. (bishopric of Olmutz, Charles II of Liechtenstein-Castelcorno, 1664-95, five ducats of 1678, Kremsier mint. Obverse: bust right in clerical vestments and collar; reverse: Fourfold arms of Oben Krummstab, Inful, Fürstenhut and Schwert. Extremely fine, from UBS auction 66, lot 1523 (September 2006).)"

This one-year type is among the rare issues from this ecclesiastical state in Moravia, then part of Austria, now the Czech Republic. Later thalers from the 1720's are listed quite inexpensively.
