Heritage sale 3064, part of lot 29052

This specimen was part of lot 29052 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), which sold for $360. The catalog description^[2] noted, "Louis XIV. Trio of High Grade 4 Sol Pieces, ...3) 1676-A Unc., Paris mint. Full mint luster. Weakly-struck in the centers. From the Doug Robins Collection of Canadian Tokens." This quatre sols des Traitants is a rather unusual product of the Paris mint. It was accompanied by a two sols (KM 246). Its production was farmed out to contractors who produced large quantities, likely more than was reported to the government. This is one of the few French coins of the 1662-1690 period that can be called common.
