This specimen was lot 20203 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), where it sold for $822.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "ANGOLA. 12 Macutas, 1796. Maria I (1777-1816). NGC AU-53. An outstanding example of this Portuguese Colonial issue, and easily one of the best preserved examples available to collectors. Silver coins minted for Angola in the eighteenth century include two, four, six, eight, ten and twelve macutas. None are common, especially in undamaged condition.
