This specimen was lot 73329 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, June 2020), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS EAST INDIES. West Friesland. Duit, 1787-VOC. PCGS AU-53 Gold Shield. Offering soft, chocolate brown surfaces, this pleasing example is in a great state of preservation for the type." Westfriesland issued this type 1729-37, 1743-56 and 1764-94. Besides Westfriesland, Utrecht, Gelderland, Holland and Zeeland struck duits for the East Indies. Most dates are common. Gold and silver presentation strikes exist but not for 1792.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 3.62 g, copper.
