This specimen was lot 1616 in Stack's Bowers ANA auction (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $3,290. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND. Basel. 2 Taler, ND (1710)-IDB. PCGS AU-58 Secure Holder. Dark and attractive toning. A lovely city-scape type. From the Ervin F. Bickley Collection of Swiss Coins. Ex. Coin Galleries, 11/74, lot #1038." Of the four double thalers listed for this canton in the eighteenth century (Dav-1742A, Dav-1740, Dav-1741, Dav-1749), this is the most common.
