This two hundred réis was issued 1854-67. It superseded a larger coin (KM 455) struck 1835-48. Its replacement bears the portrait of emperor Pedro II (KM 471) and is slightly lighter. This type is known counterstamped for circulation in the Azores (KM 19.1).

Recorded mintage: unknown but common.

Specification: 2.55 g, .917 fine, .075 troy oz ASW.
