This specimen was lot 70368 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2022), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRAZIL. 200 Reis, 1861. Rio de Janeiro Mint. Pedro II. NGC MS-65. This pleasing Gem displays a stunning coating of mint luster and light toning, giving this piece a fresh and handsome appearance." This two hundred réis was issued 1854-67. It superseded a larger coin (KM 455) struck 1835-48. Its replacement bears the portrait of emperor Pedro II (KM 471) and is slightly lighter.
