The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Belgian Congo|BELGIAN CONGO]]: Léopold III, 1934-1950, 2 francs, 1943, elephant left, NGC graded MS63. WINGS. This type was struck at the Philadelphia Mint but had a mistake in the legend: "Belgish" instead of "Belgisch" and was rapidly replaced by a round type struck in Pretoria." The bold design of a striding African elephant has always made this coin popular among collectors who otherwise neglect African issues.
