This specimen is lot 837 in Jean Elsen sale 105 (Brussels, June 2010), where it sold for €150. The catalog description noted,

"NEDERLAND, ZEELAND, Provincie, AR zilveren dukaat, 1706, Droit: Staande ridder nue radié met zwaard en provinciewapen aan strik. Revers: Gekroond Generaliteitswapen tussen jaartal. bijna Prachtig" (Netherlands, Province of Zeeland, 1748 silver ducat, piefort of double thickness. Obverse: standing knight holding shield with arms of the province. Reverse: arms of the United Provinces divides the date. about extremely fine).

This type was struck for Zeeland, a province of the Netherlands, 1672-1794. It is priced fairly low in the SCWC but is seldom seen at American coin shows.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 28.25 g, .873 fine silver, .792 troy oz ASW; this specimen is 27.26 g.
