Costa Rica 1922-GCR 10 centimos

Heritage sale 3022, part of lot 27082

This specimen was part of lot 27082 in Heritage sale 3022 (New York, January 2013), which sold for $940. The catalog description^[2] noted, "Republic Lot of Twenty 10 Centimos Coins, Most are early 20th century examples. Many are mint state. Some scarce issues here. Sold as is, no return lot. The Cecil Webster Collection of Costa Rica." This type was struck in Philadelphia or San José 1920-22 and closely resembles the previous brass type (KM 149.2). The 1922 is the most common of the three dates; no more were struck until 1929. The colon was introduced in 1897 and reformed (devalued) in 1917 and 1920.
