This specimen was lot 70684 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $840. The catalog description[1] noted, "FINLAND. Markka, 1915-S. Stockholm Mint. Nicholas II of Russia. PCGS MS-67 Gold Shield. Blast white and entirely argent, this glistening Gem radiates with endless appeal and a cartwheel luster that seemingly knows no bounds." This type was also issued 1907-08, but the 1915 is the most common date. The markka struck after independence (KM 27) was copper-nickel.
Recorded mintage: 1,212,000.
Specification: 5.18 g, 0.868 fine silver, 24 mm diameter.
