Künker sale 293, lot 1357
Stolberg in 1789, as part of Saxony

This specimen was lot 1357 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabruck, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €3,800 (about US$5,122 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"STOLBERG, STOLBERG, GEMEINSCHAFTLICH, Ludwig II. Heinrich XXI. Albrecht Georg und Christof I. 1555-1571. Taler 1559, Stolberg, mit Titel Ferdinands I. Friederich 209 (dieses Exemplar). RR Sehr schönes Exemplar. (Germany, county of Stolberg, joint coinage of Louis II, Henry XXI, Albrecht George and Christopher I, 1555-71, thaler of 1559, Stolberg mint, struck in the name of Ferdinand I. Rare, very fine example.)"

This type seems to have been a joint coinage and is listed for 1559 only.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver.

Catalog reference: Dav-9855.
