The East Caribbean States formed as a loose union of island nations in the Caribbean, all of which are former members of the British Caribbean Territories prior to its dissolution in 1965. The current full membership states are Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Coins of the East Caribbean States continue to mix with those of the older British Caribbean Territories in circulation. Shown is a 1993 one cent, scalloped. It was first minted in 1981.
