This specimen was lot 72591 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, June 2020), where it sold for $80. The catalog description[1] noted, "HONG KONG. Cent, 1903. London Mint. PCGS MS-62 Brown Gold Shield. A near choice specimen, this example offers a great red-brown allure with solid brilliance." Hong Kong was seized by the British from China in 1842 and held by them until its return in 1997. In Hong Kong, 100 cents = one dollar; sterling coinage was never used there. This type was struck 1902-05.
