Revision as of 15:51, 27 May 2021
This type issued 1673-93 is among the common issues from this ecclesiastical state in Moravia, then part of Austria, now the Czech Republic. A similar six kreuzer with "SAS" at the bottom of the reverse (KM 236.3) was issued 1678-94. Twenty of these coins would have traded for a thaler. The second specimen was lot 70196 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it sold for $204. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. Olmutz. 6 Kreuzer, 1685. Karl II von Liechtenstein-Castelcorn (1664-95). PCGS MS-62 Secure Holder. Date split by double crowns on the reverse, denomination written as 'VI' below bust. Well struck and nicely centered, metallic luster with hints of peripheral toning."
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver.
Catalog reference: KM-236.2.
