This specimen was lot 71080 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it sold for $70. The catalog description[1] noted, "BELGIUM. 2 Centimes, 1909/1809. Brussels Mint. NGC MS-64 Brown. 'DES BELGES' (French) text. An interesting overdate variety, this alluring near Gem exhibits a deep hue comprised of violet, cobalt, and deep brown. Incredibly attractive and enticing." This type was struck 1869-76 and 1902-09 along with KM 36, a two centiemen struck with Dutch legends. The regular date is common but the 1909/5 and 1909, 9/8 overdates are scarce.
