Sincona sale 20, lot 2459

This specimen was lot 2459 in Sincona sale 20 (Zurich, October 2014), where it sold for CHF 5,250 (about US$6,579 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Dukat 1684. Mainz. Selten. Vorzüglich. (rare, extremely fine.)" This rare type was struck one year only.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.5 g, .986 fine gold, .110 troy oz AGW; this specimen is 3.42 g.
