This specimen was one of a series struck 1854-67 in Santiago, Chile. An earlier and a later type exist (KM 123 and KM 145), with slightly different designs for the arms and the standing Liberty. This specimen was lot 1167 in Sincona sale 18 (Zurich, May 2014), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"10 Pesos 1853. Santiago de Chile Fast sehr schön-sehr schön. (Chile, ten pesos of 1853, Santiago mint, very fine.)"
Recorded mintage: 61,000.
Specification: 15.253 g, .900 fine gold, .441 troy oz AGW, this specimen 15.11 g.
