from the Stack's Bowers 2017 Collector's Choice sale, lot 72866

This specimen was lot 72866 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Santa Ana, CA, May 2017), where it sold for $235. The catalog description^[1] noted, "PERU. 5 Soles, 1963. PCGS MS-67 Secure Holder. Superb gem." This denomination, struck 1950-69, was theoretically a circulating coin but actually was a bullion piece like her sisters, the gold fifty, ten, twenty and hundred soles.
