Sincona sale 11, lot 2092

This specimen was lot 2092 in Sincona sale 11 (Zürich, May 2013), where it sold for 3,000 CHF (about US$3,714 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"MONACO Honore V. 1819-1841. 5 Francs 1837. Gutes vorzüglich. (principality of Monaco, Honoré V, 1819-41, five francs of 1837, good extremely fine.)"

This is the only crown issued for Monaco during the nineteenth century and, unfortunately, it is quite rare.

Recorded mintage: unknown but rare.

Specification: 25 g, 0.900 fine silver; this specimen is 24.99 g.

Catalog reference: Gadoury 107, KM 96, Dav-219.
