Monaco 1838-M C decime

from the Stack's Bowers 2018 NYINC sale, lot 24475

This specimen was lot 24475 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $120. The catalog description[1] noted, "MONACO. Decime, 1838-MC. PCGS MS-62 BN Secure Holder. Good strike with glossy brown surfaces and traces of mint red on the reverse." Several varieties exist for this one year type; large and small head and copper and brass. The only other issues of this ruler are a copper five centimes and a silver five francs, also scarce.
