Sincona sale 38, lot 1660

This specimen was lot 1660 in Sincona sale 38 (Zürich, May 2017), where it sold for 140 CHF (about US$168 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Fernando VII. 1808-1824 1 Escudo 1814. JF-Nuevo Reino. Gutes sehr schön. (Colombia, Ferdinand VII, 1808-24, one escudo of 1814, Nuevo Reino mint. Good very fine.)"

This type is listed in the SCWC from Nuevo Reino for 1808-20 and from Popayán for 1808-19. It is along the more common Spanish colonial gold coins.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.38 g, 0.875 fine gold, .095 troy oz AGW, this specimen 3.47 g.
