This specimen was lot 44054 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $3,000. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHILE. Onza, 1980-So. Santiago Mint. PCGS MS-69. The single finest certified of the type on either the NGC or PCGS population reports. Channeling the design for the 1758-So J 'Pillar Dollar,' this bullion striking presents an intense degree of shimmering beauty and brilliance, with it standing as essentially flawless and without issue. From the S.P. Rutherford Collection." This bullion coin was struck in small numbers 1978-83. The SCWC has moved it to Unusual World Coins.

Recorded mintage: 1,730.

Specification: 31.10 g, 0.999 fine gold.
