The specimen shown is from a type struck for Guatemala since 1977. This subtype was struck 1985-95. Guatemala still issues 25 centavo pieces with the head of a Mayan woman. The alloy for this type was changed from silver to copper-nickel in 1965, same as the United States.
Recorded mintage: unknown but common.
Specification: 8.03 g, copper-nickel, 27 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM 278.5.
