The first specimen was lot 658 in Jean Elsen sale 105 (Brussel, June 2010), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"SAINT EMPIRE, Rodolphe II (1576-1612), AR Taler, 1607, Hall. Erreur de lég. au rev.: ARCHIDVES.. Droit : B. l. et cuirassé à droite. Revers : Grand écu couronné, entouré du collier de la Toison d'or. Taches. Superbe." (Holy Roman Empire, Rudolf II (1576-1612), silver thaler of 1607, Hall mint. Misspelled legend on reverse. Obverse: armored bust facing right; reverse: large shield, crowned, ringed by the Order of the Golden Fleece. Scratched, Extremely Fine)
The second specimen was lot 760 in Jean Elsen sale 106 (Brussels, September 2010), where it sold for 480 euro. The catalog description[2] noted,
"SAINT EMPIRE, Rodolphe II (1576-1612), AR Taler, 1607, Hall. Droit: B. l. et cuirassé à droite. Revers: Grand écu couronné, entouré du collier de la Toison d'or. Trace de bélière. Très Beau."
The SCWC notes this type was also struck 1609-10 and is among the more common thalers of the period.
