Sincona sale 86, lot 1852

This specimen was lot 1852 in Sincona sale 86 (Zurich, October 2023), where it sold for 1,100 CHF (about US$1,481 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Elizabeth II. 1952-2022. Proof 2 Pounds 2020, Royal Mint Llantrisant. Gold. Commemorating the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower. Very rare. Only 585 pieces struck. NGC PF69 ULTRA CAMEO. With original box and certificate. No. 267 of 585 proof sets."

Recorded mintage: 96,920 in copper nickel/brass plus 9,276 proofs plus unknown in silver and silver pieforts plus 585 in gold.

Specification: circulation issue: 12 g, copper-nickel center in nickel brass ring, 28.4 mm diameter; 15.99 g, 0.917 fine gold, this specimen 15.99 g.

Catalog reference: circulation issue: S-K60, KM 1834; silver version: KM 1834a and KM 1834b (piefort, 24 g); gold version: KM# 1834c, Fr-720.
