Künker sale 335, lot 4622

This specimen was lot 4622 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €1,500 (about US$1,963 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH. Erzherzog Karl, 1564-1590. Reichstaler 1575, Graz. Panthertaler. RR Rand und Felder leicht bearbeitet, sehr schön. (Holy Roman Empire, archduke Charles, 1564-90, thaler of 1575, Graz mint, "panther" thaler. Rare, tooled, very fine.)"

Davenport notes this type for 1570 and 1574-1576. It is one of the first products of the Graz mint.

Recorded mintage: unknown.
