Sincona sale 11, lot 841
Sincona sale 18, lot 1369 (probably the same specimen)

The first specimen was lot 841 in Sincona sale 11 (Zurich, May 2013), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Frankfurt am Main, Stadt Doppeldukat 1633. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, city of Frankfurt am Main, double ducat of 1633. Very fine to extremely fine.)"

The second specimen was lot 1369 in Sincona sale 18 (Zurich, May 2014), where it sold for CHF 1,800 (about US$2,372 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,

"Doppeldukat 1633. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, city of Frankfurt, double ducat of 1633, very fine to extremely fine.)"

This type is listed for 1633-37 but is rare.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 7 g, 0.986 fine gold, .221 troy oz AGW; this specimen is 6.86 g.
