This specimen was lot 75 in Sincona sale 88 (Zurich, May 2024), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"IRAN, Afsharid Dynasty, Nader Shah, as king, 1148-1160 AH (1735-1747). 8 Shahi 1152 AH (1739), Mashhad Mint. Sehr seltenes Nominal, Gutes sehr schön, Leicht gereinigt, Kleines Schrötlingsloch; Very rare denomination. Good very fine. Lightly cleaned. Small hole in flan. Purchased from A. Saeedi, London, in 1998."
Nadir Shah was the power behind the throne in the last years of the Safavids. Finally, he tired of ruling thru puppets and seized the throne for himself in AH 1148. This silver denomination, whether called a double abbasi or eight shahi, is omitted from the SCWC.
