This specimen was lot 1095 in Stephen Album sale 43 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2022), where it sold for $19,200. The catalog description[1] noted, "NEPAL: Prithri Narayan, 1768-1775, AV 2 mohars, SE1696 (1774), a lovely mint state example of this rare type! PCGS graded MS63, RR. Incorrect Krause number on the PCGS holder. A very rare denomination in gold for this ruler and the first we have encountered; nor could we find any auction records of a sale of this double mohar type." This type was struck SE 1693 and 1695-1696. It has a low catalog value. Nepal was and is an independent nation between India and Tibet but under the strong influence of the British raj. Mohars also exist in silver.
