Jean Elsen sale 138, lot 650

This specimen was lot 650 in Jean Elsen sale 139 (Brussels, December 2018), where it sold for €460 (about US$614 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"AUSTRALIE, Elisabeth II (1952-), AV 200 dollars, 1993. Centenaire des Jeux Olympiques - Gymnaste en vol. Ecrin et certificat. Flan poli. (Australia, Elizabeth II, 1952-, gold 200 dollars of 1993, centennial of the Olympic Games, gymnast leaping. Includes box and certificate. Proof.)"

This seems to be the only gold NCLT issued by Australia for the 1992 Olympics, which is unusual, as the mint there issues commemoratives in large numbers. Two silver commemoratives were issued in 1993 (KM 218, honoring track, and KM 219, honoring swimming) for the Olympics.

Recorded mintage: 60,000.

Specification: 16.82 g, 0.917 fine gold, edge lettered CITIUS ALTIUS FORTIUS.

Catalog reference: Fr-58, KM-220.
