This specimen was lot 293 in Sincona sale 63 (Zürich, June 2020), where it sold for 375 CHF (about US$470 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHLAND | Hanau-Münzenberg, Grafschaft, Wilhelm IX. von Hessen-Kassel 1760-1785. Taler 1778 CLR, Hanau. Unter Vormundschaft seiner Mutter Maria. Ausbeute aus Biberer Gruben. Sehr schön. (Germany, county of Hanau-Münzenberg, William IX of Hesse-Cassel, 1760-85, thaler of 1778, Hanau mint, under the regency of his mother Maria. For the Biberer mine. Very fine.)"
This type was struck 1774-78 and is very similar to Dav-2289B. The county of Hanau-Lichtenberg on the Rhine passed to rival Hesse-Darmstadt and eventually to Baden.
