This specimen was lot 3046 in Goldberg sale 98 (Los Angeles, June 2017), where it sold for $2,937.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain. Shilling, 1905. Edward VII. Obverse king right by De Saulles. Reverse: Lion on crown. By far the rarest currency shilling of the 20th century. NGC graded MS-62." This type was struck 1902-10 in substantial numbers but nice specimens are scarce. This is the key date.

Recorded mintage: 488,000.

Specification: 5.66 g, 0.925 fine silver, 23.5 mm diameter.
