This specimen was lot 33244 in Heritage sale 3073 (Chicago, April 2019), where it sold for $780. The catalog description[1] noted, "Greece. John Kapodistrias Lepton 1831 AU58 Brown NGC. Expressing a glossiness and clarity of strike quite unusual for this early series. From the Engelen Collection of World Coinage." After wresting her independence from the Turks, Greece was established as a republic under John Capodistrias. This regime lasted until 1831, during which time copper one, five, ten and twenty lepta were issued. All are scarce.
