Luxembourg 1964 20 francs

Sincona sale 69, lot 814

This specimen was lot 814 in Sincona sale 69 (Zürich, May 2021), where it sold for 280 CHF (about US$372 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted,

"LUXEMBURG. Jean, 1964-2000. 20 Francs 1964, Brüssel. Auf den Regierungsantritt. Fast FDC. (grand duchy of Luxembourg, John, 1964-2000, twenty francs of 1964, Brussels mint, on his coronation. About uncirculated.)"

The SCWC has consigned this to the Unusual World Coins, considering it to be medallic in nature. A gold forty francs also exists.

Recorded mintage: 25,050 in gold plus others in bronze and copper-nickel.

Specification: 6.45 g, 0.900 fine gold, reeded edge, this specimen 6.48 g.
