Heritage sale 3029, lot 31700
Peru 1850 medio escudo rev H3029-31700.jpg

This specimen was lot 31700 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $940. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 1/2 Escudo 1850 Lima-MB, MS63 NGC. A lovely specimen with well-struck features and full toned mint brilliance." This type was struck at Cuzco in 1826 and at Lima 1826-56. It is much scarcer than the prices in the SCWC would indicate.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 1.69 g, .875 gold, .047 troy oz AGW.

Catalog reference: KM 146.1.
