This specimen was lot 31806 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $499.38. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Carl XIV Johan Skilling 1837, MS65 Red Brown NGC. An exceptional piece with light toning on the obverse and virtually full mint brilliance. Highly elusive in this superior quality. Ex: 'Colonel' E.H.R. Green; Green Estate' Partnership of Eric P Newman/B.G. Johnson." Prior to the reform of 1830, 48 skilling = one riksdaler; after 1830, 128 skilling = one riksdaler specie. As a result the weight was reduced from 28.3 g to 11.3 g. This is a common date of a type struck 1835-43. The denomination was terminated in 1855.
