This specimen was lot 21092 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 1/2 Guinea, 1787. George III (1760-1820). NGC MS-62. Fifth portrait. Boldly struck with even handling in the fields that determines the grade. A tough coin in Mint State grade." This type, struck 1787-1800, is the commonest English gold coin of the eighteenth century. Proofs exist of this date.
